Disrupting Digital Business: The Post Sales, On Demand, Attention Economy Is Here!

We’re standing at the dawn of a digital business revolution, but we barely realize it. As with the beginning of every revolution, those in the midst of it can feel it, sense it, and realize that something big is happening. Yet it’s hard to quantify the shift. The data isn’t clear. From how we interact with each other to how we engage with organizations, the shift is right in front of us. However, organizations usually react to change by denying, delaying, and disparaging — a key reason why 52 percent of the Fortune 500 have been merged, acquired, gone bankrupt, or fallen off the list since 2000.

Digital business disruption is no longer an option—it’s a necessity. Software organizations must muster up the digital DNA to transition from selling products to keeping brand promises. Learn how digital transformation allows you to use digital to disrupt instead of become one of the disrupted. Learn how this shift is moves beyond the cloud as IOT and other insight based digital services evolve.

Join R "Ray" Wang (@rwang0), head of Silicon Valley-based Constellation Research and best selling author of the Harvard Business Review Press book, Disrupting Digital Business, as he shares practical guidance on how to disrupt and transform in any industry.

Using the IoT to Create Opportunities for Software Monetization

We are at a point where it is no longer a stretch to imagine that much of what and who we interact with will be connected to the Internet. But connection is a limited way of looking at the Internet. Think of places, people, things, systems and information sources having activity streams, with historical timelines and delivering services over the Internet (in all of its forms and restricted subsets). In this world, the Internet can be thought of as a combination of an Internet of people, an Internet of information, an Internet of things and Internet of places. The potential for combining all of these things is staggering and the main theme of the internet of everything.

‘Thing manufacturers’ are at the cusp of an opportunity similar to the computer industry of 1980’s…value shift from hardware to software. The ‘Internet of everything’ makes every ‘thing’ manufacturers into a software provider. Discover the trends shaping IoT, monetization opportunities with software, and protecting intellectual property as a differentiator.

The Third Industrial Revolution – IoT

In the last decade, our lives have been transformed by Mobile, Social, and Cloud technologies, as well as by an ever-growing, intersecting network of smart, connected devices. Just as the way that we access, consume, and interact with information and technology has shifted, monetization models are changing as well. It's more than just a revolution. It's evolution.

Amy will share the latest IDC forecast and survey data to map the course and rate of evolutionary change in software monetization models. If your company generates revenue through a software offering, this session will help you to understand the requirements of "evolved" software monetization models and answer the following key questions:

• What kinds of pricing and packaging approaches will you need to develop?
• How are customer expectations changing, and what will you need to do in order to address these?
• How can systems help you progress?
• What steps can you take today to help your company move along the path to evolution?
